Kadova
Kadova is a multi-tenant SaaS platform that helps retailers, hospitality and brands issue, sell and manage gift cards — physical and digital — from a single dashboard. As founder and lead developer I built the full stack: API, web dashboard, mobile store app, webshop connectors and production infrastructure.
Challenge
- Gift card programs span many channels — in-store, online, mobile and third-party webshops — each with different workflows, payment methods and accounting requirements.
- Retailers need multi-location support, franchise financial routing, migration from existing programs and GDPR-compliant data handling without unnecessary complexity.
Approach
- Designed a multi-tenant architecture with PostgreSQL row-level security, a NestJS API and shared domain logic across web, mobile and connector packages in a TypeScript monorepo.
- Built sales channels end-to-end: hosted webshop, embed widget, WooCommerce plugin, enterprise connectors, mobile POS with offline sync, and Apple/Google Wallet passes.
- Added operational depth — RBAC, custom reports, deferred revenue accounting, SaaS billing, communications hub and guided migration — so the platform works in daily retail practice.
Outcomes
- Live platform at kadova.nl with dashboard, store app and webshop — currently serving pilot customers including city gift card programs.
- Demonstrates end-to-end freelance delivery of a production-grade SaaS product — from domain model and API to mobile app, integrations and cloud infrastructure.
